Scope of Position

The Executive Director will play a hands-on role of the establishment of the Foundation. It is crucial that they can balance multiple tasks simultaneously while also making timely decisions around both strategic and administrative issues. The position is responsible for overseeing the overall health and performance of the organisation, including administration, programs, finances, and strategic planning. Primary duties include the establishment of a brand, fundraising, and revenue generation, building partnerships, and community outreach. The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors.

The ideal candidate will use a strategic mindset to drive the future success of the company by aligning teams under one vision. With responsibility for all program areas, this candidate will execute all areas of need for the organisation including management in the following areas: fiscal, operational, program development, community relations, and board relations.

  • Our client is a non-profit organisation founded in the United States which operates in Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Its mission is to create opportunities for meaningful solutions to some of the hardest problems in Africa through enabling technology. They provide tactical community enabling solutions in vulnerable social and economic communities with an aim to tackle unemployment, poverty, poor healthcare, insecurity, and financial exclusion.
  • The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer and, in partnership with the Board of Directors, is responsible for leading the organisation’s success. The Executive Director has a clear and compelling strategic vision and is dedicated to a culture of transparency, partnership, innovation, and inclusion.

Executive Director

  • 1. Determine the most appropriate staff and contractor structure for executing programs and administrative activities.
  • 2. Recruit, train, and directly manage and support the staff of the Foundation, as the organisation grows.
  • 3. Model and ensure an inclusive, welcoming, and inspiring organisational culture aligned with our values for all of our staff to excel within and contribute.
  • 4. Maintain regular communication with Board members on progress of plans and objectives
  • 5. Lead and directs development efforts by crafting and executing Foundation’s annual fundraising plan and strategy that includes securing grants and building an individual donor program; Responsible for meeting deadlines for all grant applications and reports.
  • 6. Build and cultivate new and existing relationships with major donors, the private sector, government, and funding institutions. Build trust, communicate regularly, and collaborate to generate revenue, and goodwill, and increase donor engagement
  • 7. Identify and cultivate partners for revenue generation and program development
  • In partnership with the Board, plan and administer the annual operating budget, ensuring the long-term financial viability of the organisation.
  • 8. Act as a spokesperson for the organisation (events, fundraisers, etc.)

Executive Director

  • 1. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 2. Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a leadership role, preferably in a non-profit organization or a similar setting.
  • 3. Proven track record of successfully leading and managing teams, projects, and programs.
  • 4. Strong understanding of the African context, with a passion for driving positive change in the region.
  • 5. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • 6. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • 7. Experience in fundraising, financial management, and strategic planning
  • 8. Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines
